With a name like Meow Wolf, you know you are getting a different type of museum. I visited this modern art installation during my stay in Santa Fe, and it was definitely a different experience. This is the kind of place it is great to go with a group—to take Instagram photos, or to hide from each other, or just to explore together. There’s not a clear path through the installation, or endpoint that I could tell. But you will want to walk through several times—to find all of the little spots, details, and pathways that you missed the first time.
What's it Like?
It’s basically an immersive experience where you enter a sort of creepy house that leads into a vortex and world of another dimension. If you look carefully in the house (at art on the walls, journals, and other writings) you can follow some clues as to what is going on and happened here. I won’t give it away but I’d recommend looking for these clues as it adds to the experience! There appears to be perhaps a couple of other stories going on as well, so there’s plenty of detail to look for to occupy you for multiple visits, if you are in the area often enough to return.
Even just walking through the installation to see the different scenes is such an interesting experience. The place is filled with bright colors, odd perspectives, unexpected changes, and hidden pathways.

Tickets
It’s generally recommended to buy admission tickets to Meow Wolf in advance since they often sell out. I went in the afternoon in the middle of the week and was able to purchase my ticket there, however. This also probably means there were fewer people there than normal. I think this was a good thing as a visitor because it gives you a little more privacy with the exhibit.
