Nomatic Travel Pack
I‘ve been carrying over-the-shoulder bags for work and as carry-ons for the past few years, but I realized that I lost some true portability of my things that way. There are now backpacks that have laptop sleeves and charger ports, and can even double as carry-on suitcases, while maintaining the same old backpack portability that translates easily between the outdoors and the office. Especially because I also wanted to try walking more rather than driving during my daily routes, for example between my house and the cafe where I often work (which would be a very awkward trip with a heavy over-the shoulder bag!), I decided to get one of these backpacks to serve as a mobile office and also an easy carry-on when I travel.

I also liked that it was entirely water-resistant, since that means one less thing to worry about.
When I actually got the bag, I saw this was because the outer fabric was not so fabric-y but more like a very coated and stiff fabric construction. That property is probably my least favorite thing about the bag, but at the same time, it does make it definitely water resistant and therefore a more adventure-friendly type bag. I’ve actually grown to like it well enough.
Carry as little as possible but choose that little with care.

My Experience
The experience I’ve had using the bag is great! The pockets definitely do help me keep everything organized, and the stash pocket on top helps me keep whatever I particularly need on a given day very handy.
I’ve carried this bag to the beach, on the airplane, to classes, and around town, and it always feels both convenient and appropriate. And, its definitely more portable, comfortable, and spacious than my old over-the-shoulder bags were.
I love that I can take all my things I need for the day and still walk long distances or ride a bike without looking ridiculous or being uncomfortable.
The Suitcase
The clamshell suitcase portion is pretty spacious for the area the backpack takes up. I’ve gotten quite a lot in there when I’ve used it for traveling.
It does take a bunch of zipping work to actually get this portion of the bag open. That does make it a little bit of a pain to use, but all those zippers also keep it from accidentally opening that way when you don’t mean it to!
So, unless I’m traveling and actually need to use the bag as a suitcase, I tend to stick to using the office organization pockets around the periphery of the bag, or the large internal compartment for books or beach accessories.

Recommendation
I’d definitely recommend the Nomatic Travel Pack as a companion on your daily adventures.
This backpack will keep you organized, prepared, and still comfortable. I’ll be using it myself for a good long while, and on all of my adventures this year.
Is there a bag you love better than this for everyday use or traveling?
